Veolia Environmental Services - Twin Cities

Municipalities - Columbia Heights MN

All of us at Veolia Environmental Services would like to thank you for choosing our service. Veolia ES was awarded the exclusive collection contract for the residential refuse, recycling, and yard waste services from January 1, 2010 through December 31, 2014.

Please find the following details regarding our service offering:

TRASH – Each resident is offered a choice, set up by the City of Columbia Heights at (763) 706-3700 or (www.ci.columbia-heights.mn.us). The choices include a 35, 65, or 95 gallon refuse cart, serviced weekly. This cart will have a green body with a green lid. Below you will find the price list for bulk items.

For 95 gallon customers, the extras will be picked up on your regular route at no additional charge. For items which may present challenge for one person to handle, we ask you to contact us in advance to ensure same day service. If you desire to change your trash service level, please call the city directly at 763-706-3700. Please remember that no hazardous waste (such as batteries, fluorescent light bulbs, oil based paints, etc. are thrown in the trash).

For the day of service:

RECYCLING – Each resident is provided a 65 gallon Single-Stream recycling cart. This cart has a dark-green body and a red lid. Pick-up will take place every-other-week. Each service day is divided up into an A-week and a B-week schedule:

All items for pickup need to be out by 6:00 AM

Recycling is very important to the City of Columbia Heights. The City pays the refuse disposal bill on a per ton basis. The residents will truly save costs with the city by recycling more. Below is the guide to recycling collection. Please consider making recycling a priority in your household and contribute to the city’s cost savings.

HOLIDAY TREES – pick up will occur the weeks of January 4th and 11th, 2010. Please make sure that your trees are free of lights, decorations, and tinsel and that your tree is placed at the curb at least 5 feet away from other objects.

COMPOST – The compost collection season runs April 1 through November 30. Compost collection occurs on the same day as Refuse collection and is collected weekly. As of January 1, 2010, Minnesota State law requires all compost to be bagged using biodegradable bags. Plastic bags, often containing the made of recycling logo , cannot be accepted.

There is also an Anoka County Drop Off Sites available (www.co.anoka.mn.us)

BRUSH – no charge to the residents. All brush must be bundled in manageable three-foot lengths, and no more than 4” in diameter. Brush is collected with our compost route.

APPLIANCES and ELECTRONICS – Curbside appliance and electronics recycling is provided. Each household is allowed one white good (washer, dryer, dishwasher, water heater, ranges, air conditioner, dehumidifier, refrigerator and freezers). Appliances will be collected on Wednesdays with a specialized truck. All appliances must be scheduled by Monday of the same week for pick up. Additional appliances will be charged $11 per appliance, and a $10 trip fee if requesting pick-up more than once per calendar year. The details will be covered when placing an order.
